Ignitech Technology among women initiative is Modcom Institute initiative dubbed as “Ignitech Women”.  The motivation behind this program is specifically to address the challenges of under-representation of young women in the local tech space through mentorship, training sponsorship, coding boot camps and short trainings.

Our programs include:

These are fully sponsored trainings targeting to reach and train over 1500 girls across the country by the end of 2020. Last year we were able to train at least 150 women who are University graduate, High School Students and Professionals.
The trainings consist of Mobile Application Development, Web Development, Data-science, Databases, Business Training and Apps Monetization. At the end of the training each student is coached and mentored by industry leaders to come up with their own concepts and develop the ideas into working prototypes.

At Modcom Institute we believe that for us to win the battle of gender balance in technology, we must address the challenges at the grassroots’ level. Teachers play vital roles in the students careers, there is a need to equip teachers with technology skills and knowledge so that they can employ these skills in the classroom, which will in turn foster a strong sense and interest in our students. This year we are looking for partners to support us in organizing training workshops for teachers from girls high-schools

These trainings aim at equipping young girls and women with computer skills. In this program we have been able to train girls from Samburu Girls Foundation, Rescue Dada Center and also conduct trainings in Kibera.

We have launched a series of trainings in Girls High Schools where students are introduced to Computers and Web Development. Currently we are training 50 girls from Kenya High-School on every Wednesday and Saturdays.
